Wines and vineyards

Vignoble de Fronton  Grappe de raisin  Chai

Since the 13th Century, Haute-Garonne has been growing wine in the Fronton and Toulouse area countryside rocky terraces and maintaining their never refuted winegrowing reputation. Thanks to a favourable microclimate, a gravelly earth and the unique grape variety known as Négrette, Fronton was awarded the coveted AOC (Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée) designation hands down in 1975. It is particularly appreciated by connoisseurs and its reputation has extended significantly beyond the borders of the Midi-Pyrenees region. Around Toulouse, several vineyards have developed the label of quality  “Vin de Pays du Comté Tolosan”.

A touristic viticultural and economic route was first established in 2008. The participating vineyards signing the charter agreed to welcome visitors to tour their domaines and castles. To complement the road signs a tourist map is available upon demand.  It shows each wine producer with their opening hours.

The house of wines and tourist visitor center of Fronton
Open in June 2010, it is located in the heart of the vineyard in the remarkable setting of the Capedeville castle. This 19th Century residence was renovated for the purpose of promoting the Fronton AOC and more largely the Toulouse regional growers.  This local production showcase allows visitors to discover the anthology of Fronton wines, the reds and rosés, thanks to the advice of a connoisseur.

The tourist office provides information concerning tours of the castles and surrounding villages. A function room allows for the welcome of visiting groups, seminars and other company events.
